In the meantime, you can follow all the rumors about what we “should” be seeing at the announcements: 9to5Mac, MacRumors, MacObserver

Hard Drive Upgrades: Simplified and New Options

Happy Monday!

Today we simplified the MacBook hard drive upgrades and replacement service, as well as added a couple of new options.

First, we have eliminated a number of drives that are no longer in demand and we now have three options for standard drive replacements. The BYOD (bring your own drive) service gives you the option of purchasing your own drive and having us handle the installation and data transfer. The other two services include the drive itself, removal of your old drive, installation of the new drive and data transfer if applicable. If we are not able to transfer the data from your old drive, we will install a fresh version of the MacOS onto the new hard drive. Here’s the new options:

Customer Provided Drive Install and Data Transfer: $149
500 Gigabyte drive replacement service: $179
1 Terabyte drive replacement service: $219

Two new options for you that include Solid State Drives (SSD) are:

500 Gigabyte SSD Drive with Installation and Data Transfer: $279
1 Terabyte SSD Drive with Installation and Data Transfer: $379

Adding a Solid State Drive to your older MacBook or MacBook Pro is one of the best ways to speed up your Mac!

TechRestore Reviews on Yelp, Facebook, Google+ and more

Customer Reviews are awesome.

They help guide us, let us know when we are thrilling our customers and alert us about problems that we can solve. Often times a customer may post information in a review that we would not hear about otherwise. When this happens, we get to show that customer that the true measure of a company isn’t just how they treat you when they are taking your money. It’s the after-sale, after-service experience that can be eye-opening – in both good and bad ways.

We all want to do business with companies we can trust and depend on to provide excellent service and if a problem does occur, we want it solved quickly and with limited headaches.

All of us at TechRestore want the same thing, that’s why we work hard to earn your trust. Forever.

Here are links to independent review sites and some actual customer reviews.

iPhone 6 Screen Repair with Factory Original LCD hits $99

99-iphone6-repairWe don’t usually focus on just the sale price of a repair or product, since we think price is only one factor in choosing who you buy something from or whose service you use. But today, we’re thrilled to let you know that with some outstanding research and development of new repair techniques, TechRestore is now offering iPhone 6 screen repair for just $99.

Equally important is that we only use Factory Original LCD screens for these repairs – not a cheap knockoff that can cause you headaches in the future.

At the same time as the $99 iPhone 6 factory original LCD screen replacement, we are also launching iPhone 6 Plus screen repair for just $119.

Both repairs are completed same day and include our industry leading 1-year warranty on parts and labor. All repairs are completed by our team of Apple Certified Technicians that work hard to maintain our A+ Better Business Bureau rating and 4-5 star Yelp reviews.

Refurbishing iPads: The Ins and Outs

Everyone wants a good deal. In the consumer electronics market, the best deals often come in the form of used and refurbished units sold at a discounted price. So, what’s the difference between a used iPad and a refurbished one? At TechRestore, we take pride in our high quality refurbished iPads . Yes, these iPads have been previously owned but we take a step by step approach to making sure each unit is fully functional and ready for everyday use, replacing failed components and putting each unit through a rigorous, 15-point inspection before offering them for sale. Each iPad is refurbished or inspected by one of our Apple Certified Technicians and we include a 3-month warranty against defects.

Take a look at an in-depth walk through of our refurbishing process below.

IMG_4003-min IMG_4005-min

First we start with a damaged unit. Each iPad is assessed though our 15-point checklist to confirm what is and isn’t functional. Any required repairs are completed.

refurb3-min IMG_4002-min   refurb7-min

Next, we remove the adhesive that secures the iPad’s digitizer in place by applying heat with one of our Hakko heat re-work stations. The Hakko allows us to direct heat with needlepoint accuracy so as not to damage any of the other components on the iPad. The LCD screen is tested to insure it operates within the factory specifications and the damaged digitizer is recycled.

refurb9-min  refurb14-min

refurb10-min

After removing the digitizer and lcd screen, any repairs required from the 15-point checklist are performed while the iPad is open. All functions are tested to confirm they are in working order and any cosmetic repairs needed on the rear housing are performed. The adhesive from the previous screen is heated and removed to ensure a clean surface to apply the new screen. A layer of our exclusive DigiStick tape is applied for new digitizer. The application of a high quality, industrial adhesive tape is critical when applying the digitizer to the iPad housing.

IMG_4001-minrefurb12-min

The next step is to install a brand new digitizer on the freshly cleaned surface. After installation, the digitizer is clamped to allow the adhesive to completely dry. Once dry, the iPad is cleaned and tested again through the same rigorous 15-point checklist.

After each iPad has been fully refurbished, it is put into our stock and listed for sale on our website TechRestore.  Once purchased, the iPad is given a final cleaning, packed, shipped and delivered to every customer with a charger and usb charging cable. Not only are our iPads available at a great discounted price but you can take comfort in knowing that they have been refurbished to the highest standards, offering you much more than just a used tablet.

We’ve been hard at work trying to bring you guys more resources to support your DIY repairs. We just finished our first repair guide video, this time it’s the iPhone 6 screen repair.

DIY Parts – Our One Year Warranty

TechRestore-2010-Color-Tech-Care-tagline

You may have recently seen posts from us promoting our DIY and SafetyNet Program. Our belief is that there may be a little Do-It-Yourslef spirit in everyone. With resources like our awesome repair guides to help you along the way and our SafetyNet service if you ever really get stuck, we’re confident that we can convince more people to take matters into their own hands.

We wanted to pass along more information based on questions and inquiries that we’ve received from curious customers recently since starting our new programs.

All repair parts purchased from our website come with a one year warranty that covers all defects. Defects are instances of the part not functioning as it should (i.e screen is unresponsive, LCD appears blank, artifacts appear on screen, etc). The warranty does not cover accidental damage to parts incurred by a user such as dropping the part and damaging it.

In the case of a defect you can contact us to acquire an exchange for a working part or a refund. We can be contacted with any questions or concerns (or maybe just to have a chat) by sending an email to help@techrestore.com, and by dialing 925-689-9488 or walking right into our store to speak to an actual live human person. We’re usually pretty excited to hear from you and our Apple Certified Technicians are more than knowledgeable enough to help with you any technical issues.

We hope to hear from you soon. Good luck in all your DIY endeavors!

The TechRestore DIY Repair SafetyNet – We’ve got your back!

All of us at TechRestore are Makers at heart. We’re DIY folks that have turned our passion for fixing things into a business, a lifestyle and a family of technicians that love to share our knowledge with our customers. We have performed tens-of-thousands of repairs since 2004 and we’re still excited to get our hands on the latest iPhone, iPad or Mac so we can disassemble it, see what makes it tick and offer a repair program to serve our customers needs.

For years, our main focus has been providing award winning repair services by our team of Apple Certified Technicians. Today, we are thrilled to announce the addition of an entirely new DIY repair parts solution for iPhone, iPad and Mac products that caters to consumers that wish to perform repairs themselves.

Of course, we couldn’t just roll out a new section on our website to sell parts without putting our special twist on helping to make your DIY repair a success. In addition to offering a wide assortment of repair parts for sale with our legendary quality, fast shipping and warranty support, we’re introducing our exclusive SafetyNet program to offer you help, should you run into a problem with your repair.

PNG

Here’s how the TechRestore SafetyNet program works:

Purchase a repair part on our website, or call 925-689-9488 to order via phone (Yes, you CAN talk to an actual human!).  We will ship your parts out within 1-business day (usually same-day if ordered before 5pm ET).

So let’s say you follow one of our repair guides or watch a video and you’re feeling like a Boss when you start your repair. So far, so good. Halfway through, you run into a problem, or maybe you’re about to put everything back together, but you can’t quite remember how things line up, maybe your cat ran off with all the screws for your device. You get the idea.

You realize, you could use some help. Simply head to the SafetyNet section of our website, or make that human-to-human contact at 925-689-9488. We will email you a pre-paid shipping label to pickup your device. Simply drop-off at your local FedEx and once we receive your SafetyNet package, we will inspect your device, diagnose the issue and offer you a quick solution so we can get your device back to you as quickly as possible.

What’s it cost? Just $29 and that includes shipping to TechRestore, the diagnosis and return shipping back to you. If additional parts or labor are needed, we will provide you a no-obligation price quote and apply the cost of the parts you purchased, towards the repair price.

So now you have the best of both worlds – great prices on quality repair parts, with the TechRestore SafetyNet in place should you need the help of an Apple Certified Tech to complete your repair. That’s some good stuff.
