Going Local

Alright, I'll admit it. For years, I have always said it was easier to do a repair for a customer located thousands of miles away than it was to repair a local customer's product. Well, things have changed, that's for sure.

We spent the better part of a decade located in an obscure industrial park, receiving shipments each day from all over the country. Occasionally, we'd get a local call from a potential customer that wanted to drop off their product in person, or buy a refurbished Mac and pick it up. Our staff (me included) would shudder a bit and try to get the customer to allow us to ship the item to them, even if they were just a few miles away. Crazy, huh?

You see, we had spent years building a high-speed repair and refurbishment program that was designed all around the concept of UPS, FedEx and DHL bringing in products to us everyday. We would pounce on incoming shipments and perform repairs with superhuman speed. Our logistics setup (software, repair labs, warehouse) was setup to manage shipments in and out - Fast. The idea of an actual human being standing in our lobby asking us questions, well, frankly, it freaked us out.

Now, fast forward to 2010 and what a difference a location makes. As we continued to have more and more requests for local services and reports kept coming to us (horror stories) about the poor service most people were experiencing in the East Bay, we decided to shake things up a bit. With our new repair and refurbishment center located in Concord, we're on a busy corner with thousands of people driving by each day - many of which wind up in our lobby, playing with the famous "Wall of Parts" while they wait for an iPhone screen repair, Mac repair or to pickup a refurbished MacBook. It's been a big change for us, but based on how our customer reviews are playing out, it seems to be working.

So, if you're local in the SF Bay Area, stop on by! We've always got special deals for walk-in customers and you can pet Guinness while you're here.
